When I first met Liam

I have finally broken myself away from Liam to catch up on a little blogging myself--If I am not nursing him, I find that I am holding him while he sleeps. I tried to have a bit of a break today and managed to put him in the pack and play for a total of 45 minutes before he asked to be picked up again. I will be more strict about it later on, but for now I like that he likes being held and I like holding him.

I wanted to share the video of the first time I met Liam. Babies know basically nothing when they are first born: they know how to suckle, pee, poop and as this video shows, they recognize the sound of their mother's voice.

  1. Yeah, enjoy holding them while you can! (Just got an image of Will Ferrell in the movie Elf in my head trying to sit on Papa Elf's lap. :-))

The video is great! He definitely recognized your voice. It's kind of weird to think from his point of view -- one minute he's in this nice warm place and the next he's out in our world with only the constancy of his mother's voice. I bet hearing you made him feel much better about his new location. :-)

  3. Remember the episode in Sex and the City when Carrie finds out that Big has a heart condition and just starts blubbering and sobbing all of a sudden? That's the way I get when I see movies of people giving birth and meeting their children for the first time (Juno, Waitress, even Knocked Up).

So this morning when I visited this blog and saw this beautiful video, I started to sob and then had to figure out how to get myself and my makeup together so I could leave for school and face teenagers within the next twenty minutes! It wasn't a pretty sight, so I've decided to postpone blog viewing to night time as a rule!

Wonderful, emotional footage! What a treasured memory to keep. I can't believe he stopped crying like that! Amazing.
